Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
